PN with hyaluronic acid and lidocaine — approved for fine lines at the outer eye, with 53% less reported treatment pain than the classic version.

Hello. This is Dr. Lee Yumin of MeSOnBom Clinic.
In summer, sweat and sebum increase and the skin becomes shiny easily.
It may look oily on the surface, but strong UV light, frequent washing and air conditioning can disturb the skin's oil and moisture balance.
That can bring tightness and dryness beneath the surface, rougher texture and fine lines that stand out more than before.
So in summer, rather than focusing only on removing excess sebum, it matters to manage the skin's moisture environment as well.
Rejuran HB Plus adds hyaluronic acid and lidocaine to PN, considering both skin hydration and the burden of discomfort during treatment.
In this piece I want to look at its main ingredients, how it differs from the existing Rejuran, and who it suits.
Rejuran HB Plus is a tissue-restoring biomaterial approved for temporarily improving fine lines at the outer corner of the eye in adults through physical repair of skin tissue. The HB in the name stands for Hydro Booster.
Its approved purpose is improving fine lines at the outer eye, but in practice it is also applied at the doctor's judgement to various areas of the face where moisture loss and fine lines are a concern, such as the forehead and cheeks.
Because it is injected directly into the skin, the volume and range should be planned after checking individual skin thickness, the degree of fine lines, the area and any previous treatment.
Rejuran HB Plus combines PN, hyaluronic acid and lidocaine, addressing the skin environment, hydration and the discomfort of treatment together.
PN (polynucleotide): a component of nucleotides bound at a set length, used to physically repair damaged skin tissue and improve the skin environment. It can be considered where the texture is rough, firmness has declined or fine lines are noticeable.
Hyaluronic acid: one of the components of the skin, with the property of drawing in and retaining moisture. It can help supplement the moisture environment of skin troubled by dryness.
Lidocaine: a local anaesthetic that lowers the discomfort of injection. It does not block sensation entirely, so the sting of the needle entering and the pressure as the solution goes in can still be felt.
Both products are based on polynucleotide sodium (PN), but their characteristics differ according to whether hyaluronic acid and lidocaine are included.
In material released by the manufacturer in 2024, Rejuran HB Plus was described as reducing treatment pain by 53% compared with the classic version.
The degree of discomfort can differ with the area, the volume injected, the technique and individual sensitivity.
Rejuran HB Plus can be considered where the skin dries easily, or where you want to manage texture and hydration together.
For example, where dryness comes with dull, rough-looking skin; where firmness has declined and fine lines have become noticeable; or where the discomfort of previous Rejuran treatment was a burden.
In summer in particular, the skin may look moist from sweat and sebum while tightness appears beneath the surface because of frequent washing and air conditioning. Rather than judging by surface oil alone, the skin's moisture state and sensitivity should both be checked.
But where deep wrinkles, marked sagging or loss of facial volume are the main concern, a skin booster alone may not achieve the change you want.
It is better to identify the cause of the concern first and then choose the appropriate treatment.
Q1. How many sessions, and at what intervals?
A. Around three sessions at intervals of two to four weeks are commonly considered. The number and interval needed can differ with skin condition, the area and recovery speed.
Q2. How long do embossing and redness last?
A. Embossing, redness, swelling, bruising, itching or temporary discomfort can appear immediately afterwards. Redness, swelling, itching or discomfort at the injection site may persist for about a week according to the product information, though actual recovery differs by individual.
Q3. When can I wear makeup and return to normal activity?
A. Avoid makeup for about 12 hours afterwards. For about two weeks, avoid prolonged exposure to strong UV light and excessive heat such as saunas. If redness, swelling, itching, pain or inflammation at the injection site continues beyond a week or worsens, contact the clinic that treated you.
Where the existing Rejuran manages the skin environment centred on PN, Rejuran HB Plus adds hyaluronic acid to consider moisture retention as well.
Even with the same product, the plan differs with skin thickness, moisture state, the area treated and the volume injected.
So please check your current skin condition and concerns fully in consultation before choosing the appropriate approach.
